The 2011 Idaho Artistry in Wood Show will be held Saturday, February 26 and Sunday, February 27 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, 3300 Vista Ave., Boise, Idaho. Competitors from all skill levels, Beginner – Expert, are invited to submit their entries for display and judging. The show will feature demonstrations, vendors, an auction and banquet.
Registration will take place on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 12-6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn.

Alan Lacer
Keynote Presenter is Alan Lancer who has been involved in the turning field for over thirty years as a turner, teacher, writer, exhibition coordinator, demonstrator and past president of the American Association of Woodturners. His work has appeared in a number of regional and national exhibitions. Alan has been a regular instructor and demonstrator of the craft—having worked in all 50 states as well as 4 foreign countries. His writings have covered technical aspects of woodturning, many specific projects, stories related to both contemporary and historical woodturning and the long turning traditions of Japan and Germany. He has also produced three videos on his own, with two of them winning a total of four national awards. In 1999 the American Association of Woodturners awarded him their Lifetime Honorary Member Award for his contributions to the field.

10,000 Villages Handmade Art and Craft Fair

Friday November 12th from noon – 7pm and Saturday the 4th from 9am – 4 pm the 10,000 Villages Fair Trade Festival is at First Lutheran Church, located on the corner of Sunnyside and Rollandet in Idaho Falls. This annual event is an opportunity for the Eastern Idaho Community to view and purchase hand-made art and craft items. All proceeds go to help build world-wide fair trade. It is a wonderful opportunity to join in mission to support other countries that do not currently have the same opportunities as we do in our country.

Woodcraft Guild Display Now Open

Members of the Woodcraft guild were invited to submit pieces of their work to create a woodworking display at the Madison county library. The Display will run through the month of November 2009. The display is up and we have already received many positive comments about the display and the craftsmanship of our members. Please take some time to stop by the Madison County Library in Rexburg at 73 North Center sometime before Thanksgiving. The Display will be open M-Th 9-8 Fridays 9-6 and Saturdays 10 – 4
Idaho Artistry in Wood Show –Boise, Idaho
Wednesday, April 1st, 2009The Idaho Artistry in Wood Show is on May 2nd and 3rd at the Brown’s Gallery in Boise, Idaho. The event is very popular and the show provides opportunities for participation in judged competition, displays and sales.
The event will also include demonstrations, prizes and other activities. The show will include woodcarving, woodturning, woodburning, scrolling, fine woodworking, marquetry, gourds and intarsia. Fees are $3.00 per piece if registered in advance, or $4.00 on the day of registration at the gallery.
